Those who lived close to the border of the former GDR, were until 1991 able to receive the two TV channels of the GDR, namely DFF 1 and 2. The broadcast of Russian TV programmes on West German TV screens was technically unthinkable. Today, almost everybody is able to receive foreign channels. State-of-the-art technology requires a state-of-the-art fire protection system. In older buildings, asbestos was usually used for this purpose. The former central apparatus room of naxoo, a Swiss cable provider which collaborates with 022 Télégenève AG, was no exception to this. Given the need for substantial renovation, relocation proved the best option. However, instead of relocating the entire transmission technology as well, Phong Pham, CTO of naxoo’s analog & digital department, decided to start from scratch. He had less than six months to leave the old technology behind and to move into a smaller building in Geneva. DEV Systemtechnik provided the perfect solution. The specialist for RF signal handling managed to install the technology for the reception of 265 digital and analog TV channels in a very confined space. This was only possible thanks to a one-stop system provider who offers quick response times and eliminates the need of having to work with resellers.
